Finally a new signing…a kit deal

In what’s turning into one of the most boring off seasons I can remember for a long time, we finally make a new signing…a 3 year deal with errera to produce our kits.

Though not the news of a new goalkeeper, defender, winger or striker which we are still in desperate need of, the news did give fans something to talk about.

The first thing I did like most fans yesterday was google the current errera sponsored kits. With the exception of a couple of monstrosities produced for Norwich (see below) I actually think they produce some decent looking kits.

They tend to stick to pretty plain designs (again let’s exclude Norwich) and if we look at what they have produced for the saddlers in the past I think we should see an upgrade from this seasons throwback checkers board.

Personally I’m hoping we go back to red and white rather than red and black. My favourite kits are always when we wear block red shirts, white shorts and red socks, 15/16 seasons kit being one of my favourites (although maybe that’s just nostalgia for winning playing its bias), let’s just hope they actually arrive on time this year…

Though the new kit teasers coming in the next few days will give us something to talk about, the lack of action from the club that actually affects the playing staff has been frustratingly non-existent.

As it stands we don’t have a goalkeeper (one with any experience), our loanees are back at respective clubs and every player that gets rotated into the rumour mill seems to be getting snapped up by teams around us. We can’t even seem to sign the players who actually want to play for us (God bless you Scott laird!), let alone convince anyone else!

Whilst there is still time to find some talent to boost the squad (which in its current state is in dire need of investment), my concern is that we have yet another scapegoat for a poor start to the season. I seem to recall Whitney telling us the players needed time to gel all the way up to Christmas last year- why haven’t we made any moves quicker this year?

There’s no point getting angry about it just yet, there’s still time to make moves in the market. Maybe we’ll do a Huddersfield and find that a minimal budget can pay off sometimes, maybe find a few more Bradshaw’s than Makris’ though (no offence lad)…COYR
